The Department of Geography at H.D. Jain College, Ara, a constituent unit of Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, was established in 1942. As one of the oldest departments of the college, it has played a vital role in advancing the study and understanding of geographical sciences in the region.
The department offers both Undergraduate (B.A.) and Postgraduate (M.A.) programmes in Geography, aimed at equipping students with a comprehensive understanding of physical and human geography, fieldwork methodologies, and contemporary spatial analysis.
There are 7 sanctioned teaching positions, all of which are currently filled, ensuring that students benefit from a full complement of qualified and experienced faculty members. The department is led by Dr. Sandip Sagar, who serves as the Head of the Department and provides academic leadership and vision.
With a strong commitment to academic excellence, the Department of Geography fosters critical thinking, research orientation, and practical skills among students, preparing them for diverse career paths in education, research, planning, GIS, and environmental studies.
